Please note - this session is for people who are seriously considering becoming a beekeeper, which needs commitment and expenditure. It should NOT be be booked as a "Red Letter Day" or "Experience", however it will allow you to find out if you are comfortable around beehives before attending part 2 of the course.
If you are over 18; if you've ever thought of taking up Beekeeping and you are living in the Chelmsford area, this 2-hour session is for you!
To give you the skills to be able to look after a colony of bees you will need to complete a 3-part training programme: Taster Session, Theory Course & Practical Course.
You are booking on Part 1 - which is the Taster Session. Note, this is a compulsory prerequisite, which must be completed before you are eligible to enrol on Part 2 of the programme.
Part 1 will introduce you to the life cycle of the Honey bee while sitting in the idyllic setting of Hylands Park. After which you will be given a full safety briefing, wear a bee suit and walk down to our training apiary where we will open up a live, operational beehive and show you 1000's of honey bees at work!! If you enjoy this session you will be invited to enrol on Part 2 (Theory Course).

Equipment: Please bring your own Wellies (mandatory); yellow "Marigold" gloves and a camping chair. Bee suits will be provided by us. Further information will be sent out around a week before, via your email address.
Part 2 (Theory course) will take place in February to March 2026.This will consist of 6 sessions held in Chelmsford 7.30pm to 9.30 pm
Part 3 (Practical Course) will consist of 5 sessions held at local apiaries in the evenings /weekends in May/June 2026
